Nationalist and Federalist Pre-Primary Results

Pre-primary vote tallies were fairly close. That's pretty typically, and not something I'm saying to be kind. Occasionally, we see a candidate whose vote total is dramatically higher than his seven other opponents, but that's the exception. More common is a muddled pack of candidates, each with a similar vote total. It's natural because each convention delegation will vote for its own candidate first. When eight county delegations each do the same thing, vote totals don't have dynamic swings. Looking down the list of results, three or four candidates were compelling enough to get voters to cross delegation lines, resulting in higher vote totals. Again, that's the exception.

Interesting also that some candidates are charismatic enough in their one brief speech to create an immediate buzz around their candidacy. We see this morning's video of the two students from Grafton, plugging their favorite candidate in the close shots of that clip. That candidate topped all others on both party ballots. Not by much, but his message clearly got through.

But, you wanted to hear about the election results. These candidates will move on to the Primary Election to be held tomorrow morning:
