My Week At Boy's State - by j-rod of T-8

My week at Boys State has been a very positive experience. It's completely different from what i thought it would be. I thought we would be sitting in classrooms all day learning about government and listening to boring lectures and speeches. I learned very quickly that it was very different. The classes we have are very interesting and we are always participating in solving problems or running for a position. The lectures we listen to are very interesting and Larry DiCara makes them very interesting. We also have a lot of fun competing in sports, but there's something for everyone such as creating the Boy's Sate newspaper or playing in the band. I've made a lot of friends, not only with the other Boy's Staters but also with my counselors. I even got the guts to run for U.S. Senator, which involved giving a speech in front of many people, even though i didn't make it to the finals. My experience here has been a positive one and i'm having a blast here, and i even want to come back next year as a counselor.
