Blogging forward at Boys State

Bumping this one forward, because it's helpful for us to find out what parents and friends want to see, and this seems to be the thread in which to do that. We welcome your comments, as well as your messages to your favorite Boys State citizen.

===============================

By the looks of things this blog has gathered some interest from family, friends, and teachers of Boys Staters looking to follow progress of their Boys State citizen. It's now 10:30 am, and we have surpassed the number of visitors to this blog from yesterday. To help encourage continued growth, we're trying to quickly put together a blog team to feed this feature with content. We're also going to find a better camera to lift the quality of the photos and video clips that have been posted.

I'm really glad to have the blog as a source of information. As I'm sure most parents will agree, getting info from a 17-year-old isn't an easy thing...especially if you're looking for more than one-word answers!

Looking forward to reading more throughout the week--keep up the good work!

We had a discussion this morning over breakfast. Blogging is a legitimate form of expression that affects the political process. Blogging led to the downfall of Dan Rather, and has helped many candidates raise money, spread their message, and build campaign by the grassroots. We've decided that blogging needs to be a feature that we incorporate into the political process here at Boys State. The trouble is trying to whip it all together on the fly. We'll see what we can do.

I'm happy to see another "blogger", and hope the trend heats up!Don't worry,Boys State-blogging takes on a life of it's own, and it will all come together just fine!!!

I thought that since Boys State is all about the political aspect of life, it might be interesting to use this site as a political forum, also?

At the request of several who have posted here, and even MORE who have sent messages through their sons, the blog seems to have found an audience. From a first day with 580 hits, our second day saw over 2200 hits, with a great many (nearly 180) return visitors over the course of the day.

We've invested in a new camera, which is now loaded with 70-80 new photos and a few video clips. We've enlisted a new team of bloggers - Boys Staters - who we hope will take this over in the next day or so.

Unfortunately, late evening is just about the only chance certain counseling staff get to prepare lectures, so new photos and updates will have to wait until much later. Perhaps even tomorrow morning. Soon enough, though.

I am really glad that I can go onto the blog and see photos and videos of the boys during their week at Boys State. It helps parents feel connected in a small way to the experiences our sons are having each day. Thanks for the great work and keep those photos coming. Hello to Ben L. Love you, Mom

With the internet providing potentially universal individual access to the "nation" (e.g. blogs, web sites etc.) it is possible to imagine a day when our need for a state and national House and even Senate(to represent us, "the people") becomes obsolete. Direct voter input, unencumbered by political activists, lobbyists, etc. would lead us closer to a true democracy. The future holds exciting opportunities for our government.
Good luck to all with the elections!
Great job on blogsite!

I am not surprised that the blogging is so momentous! I totally agree with cowgirl about the web and how it is impacting the nature of government now-and will most assuredly BE the future of political activities...let's see how far the boys can take this concept this week!

Just leaving worcester state college and our first ever joint event with girls state. A fabulously successful event, with plenty of photos and video to show for it. Buses land back at stonehill in an hour or so.
